We all know that getting sufficient amounts of Vitamin D from natural sources like the sun is equally important as eating healthy and exercising. However, we all know how essential it is to protect it from the sun's harmful UV rays as well, right?
Maybe for some of you out there who are like me, it's pretty hard to find a sun protector for the face that gives you the right amount of protection but doesn't smell like regular sunscreen (and doesn't feel icky throughout the day). Of course it must be skin friendly as well.
Of recent months, I've become an avid YouTube makeup vid fan in particular of Michelle Phan and DulceCandy87. For the purpose of this review, let's focus on Michelle. She creates beautiful easy to follow and practical makeup. She gives great tips and tricks as well as product reviews and DIY beauty. She is also one of Seventeen magazine's 10 Beauty Smarties and has her own line of skincare products, IQQU Beauty.
IQQU is currently only available online although she is thinking of expanding the brand to be sold at physical stores in the near future. But for the moment, no worries because IQQU ships internationally! The brand currently offers 5 products and another 2 more on the way. She's also working on day and night eyeshadow quads to add to the mix.
One of IQQU's best selling product is their Advance Sunscreen SPF35.
Here's how it's described on the website:
No words can describe how smooth, light and amazing this sunscreen is. You can apply this sunscreen over makeup! You just have to try it out for yourself. It's non greasy, non oily, feels like nothing when you apply it on and provides maximum protection.
Non-Comedogenic. No Fragrance. Paraben Free
This product is for you if...
You want an advanced sun protection for your skin.
You want a non-greasy, non-sticky, smooth velvety sunscreen.
You want to have a silky complexion.
You want to fade your brown spots.
You want a sunscreen that is makeup friendly.
You want a sunscreen that does not run easily.
You want SPF 35 UVA/UVB protection without clogging the pores.
You want your skin to retain moisture.
IQQU does not test on animals. IQQU tests on happy volunteers.
Sounds a little too good to be true? It did to me at first. So I checked out a few reviews on the website, Google and Youtube and almost everyone seemed to be raving on the product. I decided to give it a shot after a nice message from Michelle to me on Twitter. Crossing my fingers, I placed an order. Not too long after, the package from IQQU arrived. Was super excited to say the least.
What I love most about the product is the fact that there was practically no smell! Especially no sunscreen scent which is great. Don't get me wrong though, there is a very mild scent to the product but nothing overpowering and strong. I practically only need a small amount (seriously, a small amount only) to cover my entire face. Application was smooth on top of my clean, toned and moisturized face. I felt that it added a touch of radiance to my overall complexion and evened out my skintone a bit. The product goes on light and feels like you've put nothing on. I liked that. As claimed on their website, it does leave a the skin smooth and velvety to the touch and is not greasy nor is it sticky. After a day out and in the office, I come home to find my skin still nice and silky minus the icky-ness.
Perosonally I'm in love with this sunscreen! I never would have thought that a sunscreen product will be incorporated into my daily day skin routine until this came along. I still haven't had a chance to try it out over makeup though. But you can catch a demo on that in Michelle's video on her charity channel RiceBunny. Look for the video where she shows what's in her bag/purse.
Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I was contemplating on placing an order before afraid that it'll be a disappointment like all the other sunscreens I've bought before. Clearly this is a winner in my eyes. I'm glad I took a chance and tried it out.
Do note that the price quoted in their online store might vary slightly from the price you pay during checkout. The price quoted is based on a fixed exchange rate or estimations whereas during payment the price is based on actual daily rates. At time of purchase, there was a USD3.00 discount storewide (Coupon Code: grandopening) if you type in the coupon code on the IQQU cart checkout page. Based on the PayPal rate at time of purchase, I paid a little over RM120 for my 30ml tube but in my books, it's totally worth it. Considering you only need a teeny amount each day, 30ml is a lot of product.
So if you're looking for a facial sunscreen that doesn't smell like regular sunscreen (or doesn't have a strong smell period), isn't icky, heavy, or greasy and leaves you with a smooth silky complexion plus doesn't clog pores, I'd recommend giving IQQU's Advance Sunscreen a shot. Did I mention it can act as a base for your day makeup as well?
