Jeffie Jeff Official Launch

I was fortunate enough to a little while back to be invited to attend the official opening of Jeffie Jeff's outlet at Karamunsing Capital as well as his launch for the Mon Amour line of head pieces and jewelry.   An up and coming designer, Elaina Sukaimi, was also there to showcase her latest creations which was very artistic contemporary in my opinion.  Unfortunately my camera wasn't cooperating with me that night so I'm apologizing in advance for the subpar picture quality.

Anyways, here are the photos from the event:

Sigma SigMax Brushes - Synthetic Face Kit

If you're familiar with the online beauty community, you would have probably heard the rave on the Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush.  I've been wanting to get this brush for awhile now but put off purchasing one to try out after hearing they'll be coming out with a kit featuring that very brush as well as 2 new ones for that range of brushes.

Soon after the SigMax brushes were introduced on the website, I was sold and bought my own set with much excitement and anticipation.  At the moment, there aren't any brushes in the market that are quite like these brushes.  I've seen similar constructions but none yet with the same ability and bristle density so far.

A week or two later (trust international shipping to take awhile), I picked my package at the PosLaju counter.

Update: The SigMax Synthetic Face Kit is now known as the Synthetic Kabuki Kit which includes a brand new brush and retails for $56.  Read more about the new and improved collection in my post here.

30 Day Challenge to 30 Post Challenge

Seeing that I've been incredibly overwhelmed lately, the 30 Day Challenge has been quite a daunting task for me to commit to.  Nonetheless, since I've already started with a few posts, I will continue to post my response to the daily topics albeit, at a different pace.  Instead of the 30 Day Challenge, I'll be making it into a 30 Posts Challenge in which I'll no longer be doing it on a daily basis but rather as a regular post (as regular as I can) in the same sequence.

So for Post #8: A photo that makes you laugh, I honestly really don't have a photo that makes me laugh so unfortunately in this post, I have nothing to share.

Anyways, if you're interested, feel free to do this challenge (whether it be the 30 Day Challenge or 30 Posts Challenge) on you blog too.  I'm doing the same concept on my personal blog as well due to my busy schedule and time limitations.

Much Love,

Day 7: Your Favorite Animal

My fave animal from when I was little til today hasn't changed much and are basically these 3 animals below:

Photo from News Junkie Post website

Photo from National Geographic website

Photo from Lisisoft website

I don't really know why I consider these to be my fave animals (prolly the fact that they're not pets helps) but I feel empowered I suppose looking at these animals.  They're so beautiful in their own ways and exudes an aura of strength which I find calming.

Day 6: Anything Hello Kitty

I'd never thought I'd be writing a post that is Hello Kitty related, ever.  I'm not much of a Hello Kitty fan and totally don't get this kitty phenomenon going around.  In fact, I never caught the Hello Kitty bug even when I was a little girl.  There are loads of Hello Kitty merchandise out there and even brands like MAC and Baby Phat has had it's share of collaborations with this famous Japanese cat.

Before I get any hate on not loving Hello Kitty, let me make it clear that I may not be a fan but I don't completely dislike the character either.  I'm just neutral I guess.  This little kitty has fans ranging from Dakota Fanning, Miranda Cosgrove to Kimora Lee Simmons-Honsou and her daughters.

I really do wish that I have more to say about Hello Kitty but I'm just oblivious to the craze.

Are you a Hello Kitty fan?  What types of merchandise do you love?

Day 5: Your Favorite Thing To Do

Looking at Day 5's topic I was about to answer something along the lines of sleeping or chillaxing with family and friends.  But then, I remembered that this challenge was the Beauty Edition and I suppose the topic is referring to my favorite beauty related thing to do.

Here I sit trying to crack my brains thinking of my fave beauty thing to do and I'd have to say it's shopping for beauty stuff -- be it make up, skin care, hair, nail products or brushes.  So besides the thrill of trying out new products, I find that going out to make a purchase (or online) is definitely my most fave thing to do hands down.

Day 4: Your Favorite Foundation

Alrighty then.  If you follow me on Twitter, you would've read my tweet about the delay and that I'd be posting the missing days posts when I get back from my trip (which was yesterday.. oops!) and so let's get started with this.

OK so there are a bunch of products I love for my foundation but as you can see, they're kinda different types of foundation.  *wink wink*

Favorite Mineral Foundation - Revlon ColorStay Mineral Founation SPF10 (0.35oz/9.9g)
When I was getting this I'd actually considered it's L'Oreal and Maybelline alternatives but this particular one won hands down because of the texture of the powder which I found to be super silky and the fact that the brush comes in the swivel cap and was probably the softest of the 3 choices.  I also loved the fact that there was no mineral-ish scent coming from the product too unlike the other 2.  Very nice.

Favorite Liquid Foundation - Revlon ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF6 (1 fl oz/30ml)
This is quite the cult favorite I believe and I just had to try it out.  We don't have the formula for Nomal/Dry skin though.  I have combination skin so the Combination/Oily skin formula worked out just fine.  And honestly, you really do only need a little bit of the product and the coverage is I would say medium to full (very buildable).  However, I'd still say that although it doesn't settle into pores, it doesn't stick well to areas like the tip of my nose.  Could've just been the brush I used to apply.  Will definitely try again but I love the finish and how natural it looks on my skin.

Favorite Gel Foundation - Maybelline Clear Smooth Aqua (1.01 fl oz/30ml)
This is a water based foundation and is 100% oil free.  It also contains chamomile, aloe and vitamin E.  For one thing, the shade that I bought matches my skin perfectly and blends so well.  It gives good coverage and is perfect for everyday wear.  I used to love my MAC Studio Sculpt (which gives a beautiful finish) but I've gone a shade or two darker from the uber hot sun here that I can't enjoy the product as much these days.  Anyways, this drugstore alternative is great for those of you who have combination/oily skin.  It stays on quite well too.  Only thing is you'll need to apply some sunscreen in the day time cos it doesn't come with SPF.

Favorite Powder Foundation - Benefit Hello Flawless SPF15 (0.25oz/7g)
I totally fell in love with this product from the first time I tried it out at the counter.  This product is amazing.  Only a light dusting of the product on my skin took away some of the redness and brightened as well as evened out my skin tone.  You can use this with a sponge for a heavier, fuller coverage or with a brush for a lighter more light to medium coverage.  It comes in 9 shades (previously only 6).  I like the fact that it looks oh so natural on the skin.

Favorite Cream Foundation - Revlon New Complexion One Step Make Up (0.35oz/9.9g)
This is another new found love.  I've never used cream foundation before and I'd originally bought it while searching for products to include in my kit.  So I had to try it out first before committing on getting the other colors.  We only have 4 shades here in Malaysia but a whole range of shades in the US.  Anyways, I thoroughly loved how smooth the product spread and blended on my skin.  It looks so incredibly natural and made my skin look perfectly flawless and smooth.  The only downside though is I have to use a mattifying base before the foundation and a translucent powder to set for it to not look so greasy on me especially if I'll be sweating a lot.  Other than that, it's divine!

Now that was a long list of fave foundations.  Do we have common favorites?  What foundation do you absolutely love at the moment?

Day 3: Your Favorite Brush

I have several favorite brushes at the moment and as you can see, all of them except one are Sigma brushes.

My favorite face brushes

1. elf Kabuki Face Brush ($5)
2. Sigma F30 Large Powder Brush ($16)
3. Sigma F10 Powder/Blush Brush ($16)
4. Sigma F15 Duo Fibre Powder/Blush Brush ($16)
5. Sigma F35 Tapered Highlighter Brush ($16)

My favorite eye brushes

1. Sigma E35 Tapered Blending ($9)
2. Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush ($9)
3. Sigma E30 Pencil Brush ($9)
4. Sigma E65 Small Angle Brush ($9)
5. Sigma E50 Large Fluff Brush ($9)

Send  me a link to your response to today's topic or leave a comment with your favorite brushes.

Day 2: Your Favorite Bag That You Own

Since I wasn't able to post my Day 2 entry late yesterday due to utter exhaustion, looks like I'll be ending this challenge on Dec 1st instead of Nov 30th.

So here's my current fave bags that I own:

Nine West Black Mixed Faux Leather Satchel

Would you believe I got this baby for only RM150?  I love it!  And it matches my wallet too (the faux croc part).  It's made of a mix of faux cow leather, faux suede and faux croc stitched together in a sort of random triangle pattern/design and has a few metal stud details and a metal ring to connect the straps to the bag.  The straps are pretty unique too with a sort of double strap design and little buckle details.  The bag has a zipper enclosure with 2 smaller pockets on one side inside and a zippered compartment on the other.  It also comes with a bag tag which I haven't actually used yet.

Being me, I just can't decide on ONE thing for a post.  So above is another bag that I own and absolutely love.  My fave luggage bag every, EVER!  Haha.  I've had this bag for a very long time and was actually bought at Watsons (believe it or not) because while on a trip to KL with my mum we bought too much stuff than our bags could handle and needed to get an extra bag pronto.  We came to see this bag at Watsons and bought it on a whim since it pretty much fit our needs at the time.  It didn't look too bad either, very simple design with expandable zippers that allowed it to fit even more stuff (maybe another 20-30% more).  So technically this was my mum's bag but she probably only used it a few times before I took over.  Haha.  She didn't mind since she knew how much I loved it.  It has gone travelling with me countless times and is just perfect for my needs.  Best part is, in it's normal form/size, I can bring it into the plane cabin as a hand carry bag too.  When it's expanded though I have to check it in.  I love that it's 7kg (or less) unexpanded and loaded with my stuff and is about 15kg (more or less) expanded.  It's just perfect.

So what bags that you own that you absolutely love?

Freestyle Palettes

Depotting make up definitely helps to free up space especially if you have a lot of make up.  Product packaging although pretty can really take up a whole lot of storage space.  But what happens once you've depotted?  Empty palettes are only available for certain pan sizes.  What about irregular sized pans (i.e. elf Studio, NARS, HiP, etc)?

Fortunately a number of companies provide a solution to that problem.  Freestyle palettes!

Photo from Z-palette website

Z-palettes
Website: http://http://www.zpalette.com/
Free shipping to US & Canada (excluding tax)
Ships internationally (more info)

One of the more popular freestyle palettes are the Z-palettes.  They come in 2 sizes:

  • Large (8" x 4.75" x .44") - $20
  • Small (3.8" x 3.8" x .44") - $14
And it comes in 4 beautiful colors and patterns:
  • Black
  • Fabulous Pink (Light Pink)
  • Zebra
  • Leopard
The palettes feature a clear top so you can see all your products in it and comes with a strong magnet base to hold your pans.  The body is made of durable recycled material and the cover can be folded back completely and stay out of the way while you hold your palette (especially convenient when doing client's make up).

Chances are your depotted pans are not magnetized and for $4.30, you can get a pack of 40 pre-cut square magnet stickers sized at 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/32" each to stick onto the base of your make up pans.  The palettes are also available on ACW.

Review: Sigma Complete Brush Kit

I believe the Sigma Complete Brush Kit came out some 2 years back but honestly, I was a bit late on discovering them.  Having started a YouTube beauty video obsession only a year and half ago, I'd only heard of them last year and honestly, after watching reviews on the brushes, I was sold.  Patiently though I waited til early this year to place an order as a belated birthday present to myself (mainly to await to Premium Kit which I'll review in another post/video).  After some international postal challenges and amazing assistance from Tara (Sigma), I finally got my package some time in April.

Anyways, on to the review and those comparison photos:

Without Brush Roll: $79 (Black)
With Brush Roll: $99 (Black/Light Pink)

The kit includes 12 brushes (5 face & 7 eyes).  The brushes are of either natural or synthetic bristles and are generally soft to touch and skin.  The brushes are made of a metal (not sure what kind exactly) ferule and a nice matte satin finish black wooden handle with the Sigma logo and brush name & number imprinted on it.

If you have been following me on Twitter, you would have probably seen my TwitPic of the packaging and the brushes when I first got them.  The packaging is just gorgeous.  The brushes and brush roll were packed in an organza drawstring pouch.  The one thing that I noticed off the bat was the smell.  I think it's the mix of the faux leather scent and the glue that created this really strong awful scent.  Good thing it only needed to be aired out a day or two to get rid of the stench.

The brush roll (Ind. Price: $20) is nice and has 12 main pockets to store the 12 brushes in the kit and it comes with a protective flap over the brushes.  Then there are the 3 additional brush pockets to store additional brushes you might have or even lip glosses, concealers, eye liner pencils, mascara, whatever fits.  Technically it's more of a brush pouch/fold than it is a roll considering it doesn't actually roll up.  The brush roll is held closed with a strap and a magnetic button.

All brushes and brush roll are available for purchase seaprately too.

New Product: Sigma Premium Travel Kits

Today Sigma had just announced the launch of their latest offering - Premium Travel Kits!

Photo from Sigma website

The new travel kits comes with 7 mini brushes selected from the brushes available in the full-size Premium Kit and is encased in an elegant travel pouch/clutch upgraded from the original Travel Kits.

Faves: July/August 2010

So I'm a little behind on my July/August 2010 faves and I do apologize for that.  It's been a busy couple of weeks especially with the Hari Raya celebrations this weekend and the preparation during the last weeks of Ramadhan leading up to it.  That said, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all.  *smiles*

Anyways, now that I'm back from my grandma's house because work beckons tomorrow, I've had some time to transfer the pre-recorded video from my camcorder, edit and uploaded it.  So let's get to it, shall we?

Haul: Sephora, ULTA, ACW

A couple of months ago I went on a US online shopping spree of my own and picked up some things that I've had my eye on for awhile and then some.

So I was definitely super excited to get my packages.  Don't be fooled.  The boxes may be big but it was 90% padding except the package from ULTA which was quite nicely packed without the need of way too much padding.

Tutorial: Wearable Peacock

I'm super excited at the moment.  This is a totally new venture for me and I'm really happy to present to you my very first video look tutorial!

This is also my first proper video contest entry since my "first" one wasn't actually a tutorial but rather a last minute less than a second slideshow of a look.  Haha.  This was made as a contest entry for the Sigma Animal Inspired Contest on their YouTube channel.

Haul: MAC In The Groove

OK I know this is rather late and the collection has probably sold out already.  So I was browsing my SD card transferring photos to my laptop when I stumbled on these photos that I'd taken the day I bought the products.

Anyways, I only picked up 2 of the 5 or 6 that I'd originally wanted to get.

Haul: All Cosmetics Wholesale

I made a couple of purchases from All Cosmetics Wholesale in the past few months (April and July) and oddly enough, I received both packages in August.  The first package was shipped via USPS International Priority Mail ($24) in mid April and was released by Malaysian Customs end of April.  The package was marked received by my local post office end of June and the pick up note was sent to me early August.  I'd already lost hope and accepted that that package would never reach me (but was delighted it did).  The second package I got shipped via USPS International Express Mail ($29) and got to me in a more timely manner.  The website sells a host of brands and ships internationally as well.

Anyways, let's get to the products and swatches:

Package #1

Package #2

First Impression: Stila One Step Make Up Foundation

I've always found Stila to be an interesting brand but the prices seemed to be a strong deterrent for me to actually pick up a product or two.  Anyways, in the past year, I have managed to find more affordable Stila buys and here I'll be sharing my initial thoughts on their One Step Make Foundation which I got for $19.99 at ACW (retails for $44 a bottle).

MUFE Eyeshadow Guide - Dark Definition

I stumbled upon this on the Sephora website and loved it.  It's the Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow Guide named "Dark Definition" (page here).  Don't you just love smokey eyes?  And I personally find this incredibly wearable even for day time.  It gives the eyes a nice definition and the dark concentration on the lash line gives lashes a nice full appearance.

I'll have to try this myself some time soon too.

Let's Get Started with Faves!

I'm so excited to have my first faves video up. This first one is gonna be longer than my upcoming ones just because I have a lot of products to show to start with.  I'll either be doing favourites videos either at the end of each month or at the end of every other month depending on how much I switch up my products and how much new stuff I try out.

Anyways, catch you guys later!

MAC To The Beach Collection

The MAC To The Beach collection was one of the most hyped about collections so far and the speed at which items from the collection sold out lay testament to this.  The collection had already launched much earlier (by a week or two) in the US and elsewhere.  In fact I believe it launched earlier in KL than it did in KK.  The collection took off here a couple of days ago (Thursday) and when I got there yesterday (Friday) after having known it to have arrived (finally!) a lot of the items were already sold out or selling out fast.

Here's what I managed to grab:

MAC To The Beach Collection

Review: IQQU Advance Sunscreen & Acne Serum

Recently I took down my previous video talking about IQQU Advance Sunscreen.  Fret not, I filmed a new review (a shorter version) of the sunscreen and included a short review of the acne serum as well.

Check out the blog archives (or select IQQU from the list of labels in the sidebar) for a more elaborate review of the IQQU Advance Sunscreen.

Review: ARTISTRY Facial (Part 2)

Now for Part 2 of my review, the facial experience.  Let me start with the apple demonstration which was shown to us while we had our essentials Pore Cleansing Masque on.

So, everyone knows how fast an apple is oxidized when cut and exposed to the elements. The beautician had initially wanted to show us how the iodine rubbed on to one side of the exposed apple would magically disappear after applying the Time Defiance Vitamin C + Wild Yam Essence but due to the intense colouring in the iodine they'd used, that side of the apple was still tinted yellow.

The Apple Test

Review: ARTISTRY Products (Part 1)

A couple of days ago a friend of mine texted me inviting me to try out a facial treatment using products she has recently fallen head over heels in love with.  The interesting thing about this facial is the Qua Sha or Gua Sha massage technique used in the final stages of the treatment.  It's been years since I went for a facial (I like to do it myself at home with masks and what not) so I decided to give it a try and at the same time get the opportunity to check the products.

ARTISTRY is sold via Amway here in Malaysia and is one of the Top 5 selling prestige brands globally (the other 4 being Estee Lauder, Lancome, Clinique and Shiseido). The brand believes that Beauty is their reason for being, Women are the soul or their brand and Science is the foundation of everything they do.

The brand is quite low key I must say despite being amongst the top ranked brands in the market.  I am very much familiar with the other 4 brands mentioned above and am personally a fan of all of them in one way or another.  However, I decided to give the session a go and a full review of the treatment will be in Part 2 of this post.  Below is my general outtake on the products that were used during last night's session.

Look: Blue Eyes, Red Lips..

Last night I decided to give the Mars Limited Edition Midnight Candy Bar make up inspired look another try.  This time I though I'd move the red from the eyes to my lips.  The look didn't come out the way I wanted it to but after toning it down, I came ended up with this look which I feel suits me much better.  I'll post a photo of the look that didn't work out at the end of the post. :)

Review: Make Up Removers

It's been awhile since my last post and I humbly apologize.  Anyways, I'll do my best to put up more stuff here as much as I can.  I haven't had time to make any videos at the moment (plus I have a bit of a flu so I sound nasally and awkward what with the sniffing and what not).

I'll be reviewing a few make up removers that I've tried so far and which has proven effective and which had been less impressive.  Most of the products below are eye make up removers because I've been on a quest to find a good one for myself to get rid of those super stubborn waterproof mascaras and eyeliner.

Absence on Blissful Belle

I deeply apologize for my lack of updates.  I've been pretty tied down with family, work and my latest project - Aurora by elixelle - my blogshop (ships internationally too!).

Anyways, I've received a whole bunch of my elf orders and am very excited to share it with all of you.  I'll be doing a favourites video soon (I hope) and a few review/haul videos.  I will be redoing my one or two of my videos to give a better quality output to you guys.  I just don't feel comfortable with the quality of it at the moment.

At the moment I'm still in the process of redecorating my room so it's still in a mess and I can't shoot videos there yet.  I'll be busy still going outstation and what not the next few weeks so I expect to get something up here and on my YouTube channel after that.

Thanks for your patience.
